ABOUT ROBERTA

Roberta Greenberg, RN, CNOR, RNFA*, has been working in the field of Neurosurgery for more than 25 years, and specializing in Movement Disorders surgery and post-op management for more than 15 years. She has been on staff of some of the most progressive neurosurgical centers in the country, including New England Medical Center, Barrow Neurological Institute, Cedars Sinai Medical Center, CHW Saint John's Regional Medical Center (Oxnard, CA) and Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center (Burbank, CA), and has been instrumental in creating movement disorder surgery programs at each of them.

Serving as Clinical Manager of Movement Disorders and DBS Surgery, she created a unique ³perioperative² approach to DBS patient care, where the nurse navigates the patient through the whole experience ... before, during, and after surgery. This allows for a high level of communication and bonding between patient and nurse, and results in a greater outcome satisfaction for both.

As one of the first nurses in the country to be trained in DBS programming, Roberta is considered to be a thought-leader in the field of DBS patient management.

Roberta has served as head faculty for the WeMove Virtual Movement Disorders University DBS online forum. Among her other professional credits, she is a member of the International Nursing Core Leadership Council of the Movement Disorder Society. She contributes expert advice to online DBS forums at Yahoo Groups (see links to join this group) and provides consulting and training services to DBS centers nationwide.

*RN: Registered Nurse; CNOR: Certified Nurse in the Operating Room; RNFA: Registered Nurse First Assistant. These are advanced certifications that required additional training.
